my experience so far on the course
Week 1:
When I first started the course, I was a bit nervous, as I didn't know anyone yet. There were 60 people in a Microsoft Teams meeting, and my anxiety about being with so many new people was flaring up a bit. There, I met Priscilla, our tutor and Jakki, who was marking our work and supporting Priscilla in the meetings. After explaining how the course would work and how to log in to the VLE, we started our first course, "ETA L1 Certificate in Digital Contact Centre".
I learned a lot of skills I will need while working in a digital contact centre, like the behaviours and standards, the different approaches when dealing with outgoing and incoming calls and how to use different closing sale techniques.
Week 2:
After relaxing over the weekend from our first week, we came back to finish off our last few assessments for the ETA L1 Certificate in Digital Contact Centre before starting the qualification "Gateway Level 1 Award in Cybersecurity" by the end of the week. In this course, we would learn about hackers, cyber attacks and how to prevent them.
Week 3:
After our second weekend, we continued to learn about Cybersecurity. We learned of the type of attacks hackers will use, like Ransomware, where a hacker would restrict access to a program or encrypt files on someone's computer and would demand a ransom to gain access or phishing where hackers would pretend to be a legitimate company or a friend and send you a fake link or website to steal your personal information, these were just two examples of the tricks we learned that hackers do.
We worked together in groups on Canvas to do presentations on different subjects related to do with cybersecurity and hackers. Our team focused on hackers' motives for entertainment purposes, like doing it for bragging rights and for fun to see what would happen if they did. By the end of the week, Priscilla became ill, so Jakki took over as tutor, checking on reworks and assigning us a group assignment, which we presented in Google Slides
Our group decided to do the cyber attack on the NHS with the Ransomware worm called "Wannacry", and we worked together really well and got the task completed and presented it as a group, each reading a slide in the presentation. Jakki arranged a few quiz games on Kahoot to help us test our knowledge of what we learned over the past few weeks. This was fun to do as a group. People got competitive for the crown, which had some comical moments, lighting the mood just before the weekend.
